Can just block one person (i know the url of this place but I dont know the IP address :/)
instead the three options it gives me in my privacy settings which are:

    Blog Visibility

I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers

I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can “blacklist” people or email addresses or usernames, or IP addresses under settings > discussion. IP addresses aren’t really effective though as they can change. If I have to reboot my DSL modem, I get a new IP address each time. Also, if they use a laptop, they can just find a wi-fi hotspot and have a different IP address.

If they have left a comment on your blog, then hover your mouse over the comment and then click “edit” and you can see their IP address, email address (they might not have used their real email address).

You can block an individual by using the IP. This however is not usually all that effective because many IP’s are dynamic (constantly change) and because those who cause trouble tend to simply get a new one.
    –Dashboard -> Settings –> Discussion
    Scroll down to:
    Comment Blacklist
When a comment contains any of these words in its content, name, URL, e-mail, or IP, it will be marked as spam. One word or IP per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.
Put the IP in the box and then click “Save Changes” found on the bottom left hand side.

Actually the email address name and IP address is in the dashboard under comments and right under their avatar. You don’t have to click edit.

As far as I know, the blacklist ONLY applies to their ability to comment, not their ability to read.

thanks everyone. i decided im not going to be paranoid about who is looking at my blog :)

how can i delete this post?

  • Unknown's avatar

You can’t: the forum keeps threads, so other people who are thinking about the same things can see what has happened here and learn from it.
