Blog visibility
-
Hello. I have had a blog for three years now and for some reason it does not show up on Google. Even when I type in the exact title of the blog in ‘Search’ it doesn’t show up.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The site does come up on Google Search:
site: bottomdream16.wordpress.com.
I see that there isn’t much coming up in the search results. It looks like your last post was over 3 years ago and sites that jump up in search engines that are regularly updated with content. So, if you begin posting regularly again with relevant, quality content, you should definitely see a jump in the search engines.

Thanks,

Hi
Thanks for the quick response. Sorry I realised I entered the wrong blog. The blog you have searched for has not, intentionally, been added to for three years as it was about a particular project which had run its course. The blog I meant to refer to was its successor. It is called 2nd from Bottom and is the one I have made over 60 posts to in the last three years. This blog – and its posts – are the ones not showing up. I have posted to this blog earlier today and again this time last week – I tag my posts. If I search for “2nd from Bottom blog john chapman” it returns a result…but for my previous blog. Clearly I must be doing something wrong but I don’t know what.

Ok, so you’re referring to https://2ndfrombottom.wordpress.com/ ?
First, please keep in mind that Google cannot index the entire internet in real-time. It will take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for Google to index new and updated content.
You can track their progress by verifying your site in their search console: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console

Hi mcmanx
Many thanks for your help with this – it’s a real mystery. I understand that the latest post won’t be showing up yet but I’m concerned that none of the other 60+ posts (across three years) are easy to find or that the blog itself is apparently invisible. Even typing in the full name of the blog (as per last post here) fails to reveal anything other than a link to my previous blog. So, I’ve done as you suggested and verified the site with Google – however it does say in Word Press’s notes that doing this isn’t necessary unless you after particular stats – which I’m not really.
My blog post is my repository for theatrical reviews I write so it’s quite important for them to appear in Google reasonably quickly. Other blogger/reviewers who keep similar blogs don’t seem to have the same visibilty problem. For instance a WordPress blog called “Life In The Cheap Seats” publishes far less often than I do. Yet if I type the name into search it comes out straightaway at the top of the list. I can’t even find mine anywhere.
