  hi wordpress,
  i have just created a blog with you. this blog is for an assignment i am doing at college – is there a way i can make my blog invisible so only me and my lecturer can view it?

  Here is how to make your site private:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
  (choose option 3: I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose)

  Your teacher will need a WordPress.com account so you can invite him or her to view your blog:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/adding-users/
