Blog visibility in China.
-
If I upgrade to get a custom address, will my blog be able to be seen in mainland China past their firewall without others needing to have a VPN?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Probably not. China blocks WordPress.com hosted blogs and the fact the blog is on a domain matters not.
If you’re behind some internet censorship service like the Great Firewall of China and you’re opening such URL via HTTPS, then all that the firewall can detect is that you are addressing wordpress.com – without more precise details such as specific blog name.
You can register any http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com and then enable https:// http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/#enabling-https“The latest trick, carried out by activists at Great Firewall monitoring site Greatfire.org, is to upload mirrored copies of blocked sites to cloud hosting services, challenging the Great Firewall operators to block major brands like Amazon and Google cloud hosting, or allow freer access to banned material. “ http://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2013/11/25/great-firewall-of-china-bypassed-by-cloud-mirrors/
As a workaround some have been using a VPN or proxy to access WordPress.com blogs. The following links provide some options:

Some users have had luck simply by using Opera Turbo. http://www.opera.com/browser/turbo/ -
