blog visitor information (for privacy policy)

    Hi,

    Firstly I have to apologise if this question is asked a lot but I’m a bit of a novice to both WordPress and website design in general, so please go easy!

    I’ve been tasked with putting together a website for a charity I help out with and am currently looking at creating a page outlining our privacy policy, which by law we need to have.

    Whilst I can clearly tell people what our charity will do in terms of using and storing any information they provide us I’m less clear what WP is doing behind the scenes and wondered if their is a page I could link them to on wordpress.com that spells out how WP uses cookies, what visitor info is collected and how it is used (other than what I can see in the WP stats in the dashboard).

    I’ve tried searching but not had much luck. Can anyone help me out with this please?

    Automattic’s privacy policy (WordPress.com’s parent company) is what you should link to and I believe it is also linked to in the WordPress.com ToS.

    You can link to it in your site’s sidebar via text widget or navbar or copy it wholesale to your site, as it is available via Creative Commons Sharealike License.

    Thank you both for the very quick and helpful replies. That’s exactly what I was after.

    I also appreciate the pointers re. ways in which we can display this info on our website justjennifer. Gives us a few options.
