Blog vs. Literary Website

I am setting up this website as a home for promotion of novels and other fiction. I am also planning to set up a blog for periodic political essays. Can I operate both projects on the single WordPress site or do I need a separate account or even separate domain name?
Thank you for your information.WP.com: Yes

Hi there,
You can have both your website and your blog at the same address. The blog will be in a separate section of your site. Here’s how to set this up:
While the default posts page is easier to set up, creating a custom posts page is a great option if you want to customize the look of your separate blog posts page. This guide provides a couple of options that you can use to create a custom blog page for your website. Create a Custom Blog Page Start by creating a new page. You can add all the blocks you need to customize your blog pageIf you want to keep the website and the blog separate, you can create (under the same account) two different sites. And instead of registering two different domains, you can get a domain for your website and a subdomain for your blog (e.g., https://blog.yourwebsite.com).
Of course, for the second solution, you’ll need to purchase two plans. But this, in my opinion, is the best and most professional way of building your online presence.
I recommend starting with the Premium or -the more affordable- Personal plan. With both those plans, you can register a domain name for free (for the first year), remove the ads, and get access to our premium live chat support.
If you’re interested, you can instantly upgrade below.
Let me know if you have any other questions, and I’ll be happy to help.
