There is an ongoing discussion of this issue here:
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/posting-articles-2?replies=31The quick work around is to add new posts from your dashboard until it’s been addressed.

Hi there. This is the rollercoaster we Volunteers always ride. Having Staff officially state what I already stated in the very first thread in my very first comment on this issue may sound reassuring to new bloggers, who have only used the add new here https://wordpress.com/post/ but it doesn’t have the same impact for the Volunteers who have been here for years.We don’t use the new dash. We use the Add New link on our own blog’s dashboard. There are about 20 pages of threads tagged re: recovering a lost post or page as result of the early iterations of the page at https://wordpress.com/post/ and there could be many more but I stopped tagging them months ago.
So here’s the deal. There are no announcements made in situations like this one. Surpise! You login and your blog or the features and functions have changed overnight without any warning. Things don’t function as they used to or they break so a few bloggers show up in the support forums reporting their experiences. Then a few more and so on.
Volunteers provide triage and workarounds where they can and tag threads for Staff. Most people hate change so most bloggers who post into threads will not try anything different as they have embraced the fanciful notion that if they cry out loudly and frequently Staff will listen and reversion will occur. Those with upgrades contact Staff directly and the vast and overwhelming majority of users remain silent.
Time passes Staff does officially respond and will provide an update on what’s going on re: changes. Bloggers cry out with words to the effect of: “We hate it. It wasn’t broken. Put it back the way it was please.”
Staff respond with words to the effect of: “Please make specific suggestions for improvement as we will be glad to hear them and will work with you to make this better.”
Bloggers who have been frustrated and inconvenienced by the changes and who hate what has been done are then placed in the unenviable position of either
(1) posting only to improve whatever it is that they believe was not broken, and is now a feature they hate, or
(2) shutting up.The ace in the hole is that there are millions of us, so and Staff can always say words to the effect of: “You folks who are complaining are only a few in numbers, the majority haven’t responded negatively.” Then they may point the way to self-hosting.
I know that complaining will get me nowhere and that reversion is unlikely 99.9% of the time. I provide whatever support I can and I shut up.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I also only use the dashboard so misunderstood the questions at first. With all your experience and time volunteered I’m sure situations like this one are especially frustrating.

@lizthefair
To be clear this situation is not frustrating me at all. I don’t use the Add New page here https://wordpress.com/post/ so I am unaffected by any changes made there. The implication of your use of “your perspective” makes me smile.. Suffice to say that the way I see things and the way I described them above is not only my truth, it is an accurate description of the way things roll here.
