BlogAds
-
When I had my blog hosted by another provider, I was able to run blogads. It was one discreet ad in my sidebar that would occasionally be bought and provide me with a bit of income. As a Christian homeschooling mom, I take seriously what is seen on my blog and I appreciated the ability to accept or deny any business wishing to use my blog space.
My blog is primarily to keep a record of our family and offer support to other moms juggling many roles. And has never been just to advertise. But I am unable to run my Blogad on wordpress because of your policy about advertising (which was buried in the FAQ’s and I didn’t see before spending a copying and transferring four years worth of individual blog posts).
One of my friends just opened her own business selling really cool kids clothes and I couldn’t even offer her my blog space, which blogads allows me to do free of charge to people I know.
I know you probably won’t change your policy just for me, but I wanted to throw this idea out there. I know I’m not alone in the desire to advertise on my blog without having it be obnoxious.
Thanks,
Anne

You have two options:
(1) Hiring a web host and downloading a template free of charge from http://wordpress.org.
Good web hosting is very inexpensive. I know that for sure because I have a hosted wordpress install myself. :)

And then paying for an option to run your own ads on your blog along with the ads that wordpress.com is already running on it.
