Blogger site to WP
-
I have a blog with Blogger and want to build my new blog with WP BEFORE I transfer my domain, is this possible? Can I work on my new blog site and get it 100% complete before I transfer?

Hi @summercarney, absolutely. You’re welcome to stage your new site with us before pointing the domain here. That way your current site can stay “live” until your new one is ready.
Start by creating your site with the plan of your choice:
https://wordpress.com/plansYou can leave the site private for now, import your posts from Blogger, and style the site as you’d like.
Just avoid using the domain options until you’re ready. Then you can either transfer the domain or map it to our servers.

We have hundreds of themes available. :)
You can narrow down your choices at https://wordpress.com/themes

Thanks! The link you sent me did not show themes, just the same blank page asking me to create site, any suggestions?
-
Click the link to create a site, select the free plan, and a free WordPress.com or .blog URL. In the process you’ll be asked to select a theme from a limited set of starter themes – you can pick any one for a start.
Once you’ve created the site, you’ll be able to view all our other themes at the link staff-blorbo provided, and switch to any of them whenever you want to make a change.
If you prefer to look at the themes available before creating a set, log out of your account and view the link, or view it in an incognito browser window.

I keep trying to make a site BUT every time I get stuck on the page that wants me to make a URL
I have a URL and I dont want to transfer it YET. I want to make the site nice and then in a few months transfer it.
Please tell me how to make this site without having to choose a URL
This is the page I keep getting stuck on, it says “Give your blog an address
Enter your blog’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started.”I just want to make a site beautiful and then once I am happy with it I will transfer my domain but this will take a while…
-
At step 4:
Give your blog an address
Enter your blog’s name or some keywords that describe it to get started.Type in a word or phrase rather than a full domain address. You’ll be offered a free site just below the two paid-for options. The address won’t be critical if your aim is to later purchase a paid plan and map/transfer your existing domain to that site.
