Hey there,
Thank you for reaching out. Can you share the specific error you are seeing when trying to upload your Blogspot archive?
Thanks!

Hi:
When upload a Blogger (blogspot) export xml (ATOM) 350MB
413 status code for “POST /sites/220827080/imports/new”
Make sure you are using a valid WordPress export file in XML or ZIP format.this is from uploading a zip file of the xml file , after processing
Sorry, we’re unable to process the Blogger file.
Make sure you are using a valid WordPress export file in XML or ZIP format.Anyway to remove my site link from the post?

Hi there,
Are you able to proceed if you open the .zip file and upload the XML files directly? It can sometimes be the case that the import will hang if you try a .zip file but will proceed if you try the .xml file directly. In the event that your .zip contains multiple .xml files you will want to import those one at a time (waiting for one .xml import to finish before starting the next) to ensure that everything makes it over.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
-
No, probably because the xml is too large . or maybe ATOM xml is not compatible to wordexpress xml.
Is it possible to remove the site link from my first post? Don’t know why it is there .
-
Hi again,
To confirm, you are using the process outlined here to create your Blogger XML file? https://wordpress.com/support/import/coming-from-blogger/#export-from-blogger
If so this is expected to work, but given the size of your XML I could see it leading to issues. Do you have the option to export a sub-set of your Blogger site to see if a smaller XML file can be made to work?
Is it possible to remove the site link from my first post? Don’t know why it is there .
When you made your request that is the site that we see under your account that you are needing help with. It cannot be removed, but is only visible if you are logged in to your WordPress.com account. It does not show for the general public.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi:
Yeap, exactly the same as outlined. I suspect either the format is incompatible (even in xml) or the size, that’s why I zipped it , but none of those files worked. There is no such option in blogger to split the file. the xml file is rejected right out but the zip file at least got the upload going , it is after being processed that the “Sorry, we’re unable to process the Blogger file.” came up.

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching out.
I can see there’s a zip folder uploaded to the media library: https://timelessdimension7.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php?item=199 – is this the file you’re looking to import?
The reason why I ask, is because it looks like theres .txt appended to the file, and so I’m wondering if this is the same file causing the issues you’re experiencing.
Many thanks in advance.
-
There shouldn’t be any txt extension and the file I muploaded is .zip , that’s it . Is my folder publically available ? I just uploaded the .zip file again, same error message.
-
Again, the system attached .txt to the .zip file and now is listed in the media folder . Why is that?
-
Hey there,
I’m not too sure why that’s getting added, is this getting added after the .zip folder is downloaded from blogger?
Many thanks in advance!
-
Yes, it is added after being uploaded and processed. Does WordPress accept ATOM xml or I have to perform some conversion?
-
Hi there!
According to our support article, the .xml file you get from Blogger will work. It may not work if it’s zipped, though. How large is the downloaded .xml file? What error message do you see when you try uploading the .xml file?
-
About 350 MB (over many many years of blogs ) . The error messages are listed as in my above posts.

Hi there, @timelessdimension0!
It seems the issue may be the size of the export file here. Can you confirm that the file is a .xml file? If so, please try splitting the .xml file into smaller files. For example, use an application like WXR Splitter or https://www.isitwp.com/wxr-file-splitter/
I recommend breaking this into multiple 15MB sized files. This will take a bit of time but each file import should be pretty fast!
After you have done that, try importing each file to your WordPress.com site.
How to import: https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/
Please let us know how that goes! Looking forward to hearing from you!
-
it is a file generated by Blogger with .xml , it looks like a legit xml when opening it in a browser
https://wordpress.com/support/import/import-a-sites-content/
This expects the xml to be a WordPress xml, I do not know if there are any differences between an ATOM Blogger xml and a WordPress xml
Does the system combine the files properly after upload? I am worried if there is something that is incompatible and causes problems after uload , it will mess up whatever I have right now with WordPress. I can not undo whatever I have uploaded.
-
Thanks for confirming that the file is a Blogger .xml file, that’s great! In that case, the key next step here will be to split the .xml file into smaller files, as my colleague suggested.
You can find other free XML Splitter tools online that are specifically for Blogger, such as https://toolxox.com/seo/blogger-xml-splitter.php . This isn’t our tool, so I can’t vouch for it’s efficiency; you may also want to get in touch with Blogger support and see if they have a recommended way to split their XML files.
Once split, you can then return to Tools > Import > Blogger and upload your smaller xml files there; the importer will convert those to WordPress files.
This guide is similar to those we noted above, but a bit more specific for importing from Blogger, if you’d like to follow along with this one instead: https://wordpress.com/support/import/coming-from-blogger/
-
As mentioned above , this is the exact step I took, the errors come up after I dragged xml file into the drop in box.

I am just wondering how WordPress combines the split files !? Once uploaded , can it be undone , etc?
-
WordPress.com won’t combine the split files. You’ll simply import your content in parts through the split files. So, for example, if you have 100 posts in a single XML file and you split that into two files, the first one will import the first 50 posts and the other one the remaining 50. Hope that helps clarify how XML splitting works.
Please let us know if you need more help with the import process. We’re here to help.
