BLOGLY (custom) theme no longer has "edit" access for post
-
The Blogly theme (NOT a free theme) never had an edit link on posts, but there was an “edit” selection on what has now turned into the My Sites menu. It just became “My Sites” today.
I only have just ONE site and one (premium) theme. Blogly. Which I paid for. And you just eliminated the only way I can go from the post (published or in preview) to an “edit” screen. Unless you are going to restore a link that enables me to go directly to editing from the site, I want my money back. I don’t understand why you make changes like this. Don’t you actually USE this stuff? The point is to be able without multiple steps. To make it easy to get to the text or graphics and correct (or change) something.
This isn’t okay, really it isn’t. You keep stripping away functionality in exchange for “a look” and it’s a bad trade. Intelligent people would rather have tools that work than tools that look pretty. Let me know what you are going to do about this. NO ACCESS TO EDITING FROM A POST is NOT acceptable. I paid for this. I pay for customization, too. I’m all upgraded and I’m not getting the happiness. Just heartburn.
Every day, you take away something I need and replace it with something I don’t need and won’t use. Wouldn’t it be polite to ask? Really?

Yes, this is the same problem. I thought it was specific to my theme, but obviously it is not. You have to put the EDIT LINK back. Along with the Stats link, they are the two useful functions of that menu. The rest is eyewash. Please. FUNCTIONALITY, not frills!

@ teepee12,
I only have just ONE site and one (premium) theme. Blogly. Which I paid for. And you just eliminated the only way I can go from the post (published or in preview) to an “edit” screen.
You should be able to edit the post at classic dashboard > All Posts. Bring your cursor arrow anywhere in the post box area to reveal the edit tab other options.

You’re kidding, right? You mean … I see a typo. Instead of clicking edit, I have to open the dashboard, then open the posts, then find the post, then open it, and THEN FIX THE TYPO. Assuming I even remember where it is. You aren’t a writer, are you. Because if you were, you would realize what you are saying is ludicrous.

@lizthefair — I don’t have the blogly theme, and I’m forced to go through the same process: see error, open the dashboard, find the post, open the post, edit.
This really is unacceptable. On the one hand, WordPress pushes good writing, longform, and so on and so forth. On the other hand, WP takes away tools useful to people who actually are writing.
The Edit function needs to be restored as it was.

I agree. They should try actually USING there own formats before they dump them on us. This is extremely unprofessional behavior.

I mentioned this in some other threads about this issue, but just to be through I’ll mention it here as well:
Hi everyone, I have a quick update on the edit link. We’ve added the link back to the dropdown menu for now. The designers are going to continue to work on it and they will change it again later.
We are working toward a clean, consistent menu bar across WordPress.com, while also making sure our users have the tools they need to do their best work.
