    Hi,

I would like to create a wordpress blog for my organization, but it seems that the [name of my organization].wordpress.com is already registered and when I open the page it is empty and apparently not used, yet it was registered in may 2010.

How can we take over this wordpress blog url? (I can of course provide documents which show that my organization has that name).

    Thank you for the help,
    Frederik

    Hello there,

There is no expiration date on blogs unused, reserved or otherwise. If you can make contact on your own with the owner of an unused blog via a contact form or commenting, then providing the are agreeable there is a means of a consenting blog owner to transfer the blog to another username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

In the case that there is no contact information Staff will not breach the privacy policy and provide you with an email address.

If you have multiple username accounts then you have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden

If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
    follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibility

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

If required please complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums which are available to everyone with internet access.

    Hi Frederik,

Even if blogs are unused or deleted, the blog URL (example.wordpress.com) cannot be re-used. The easiest path forward would be to register a variation like mycompanycorporation.wordpress.com or something similar. You can still register a custom domain to replace that blog URL or map a domain you already own:

    Register a New Domain

Then, visitors will only see your custom domain.

If you believe this violates your copyright(s), you can file a DMCA notice here:

    http://automattic.com/dmca-notice/

Please avoid discussing these copyright matters in the public forum.
