blogpost addresses are all jumbled
-
Hello. My blog is in Japanese.
If I write a blog called 明日から介護問題ホットラインがスタート
the address I see in the address bar is
http://www.osakazenrokyo.com/明日から介護問題ホットラインがスタートbut…when I cut and paste it, it comes out like this:
https://osakazenrokyo.wordpress.com/2017/09/28/%E6%98%8E%E6%97%A5%E3%81%8B%E3%82%89%E4%BB%8B%E8%AD%B7%E5%95%8F%E9%A1%8C%E3%83%9B%E3%83%83%E3%83%88%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%B3%E3%81%8C%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%88%E3%81%97%E3%81%BE%E3%81%99/How can I fix this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi!
This has something to do with the way that your browser copies certain characters.
I’m going to tag staff for you so they can look into a solution for you!
Thanks

Hi there, If you hover your cursor over that jumble, and look at your browser’s status bar (usually at the bottom of the screen) you’ll see the address as you’ve written it above and clicking on it brings me to the correct page. These are the unicode equivalents of these Japanese characters.
https://unicode-table.com/en/#control-character
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unicode_charactersAlso there does not appear to be a registered domain of osakazenrokyo.com Did you register that domain at one time?

Thank you so much.
I made a mistake:
It should be osakazenrokyo.wordpress.com/Yes, even though it’s jumbled it does get me to where I want to go, just that it looks ugly and I’m wondering if there is someway to substitute the real title with something that isn’t unicode.
Or, am I stuck using a bit.ly link if I want it to look nice?

Hi there,
Both @gregariousbadger and @justjennifer are right about how non-Unicode characters are treated on the web.
You have two options:
1. Edit the slug (URL title) of your post to contain only Unicode characters:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/slugs/
2. Use WordPress.com’s built-in URL shortener, wp.me:
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Thanks. I just had a quick look and think that one of those options will fix my problem.
I wonder if these “slugs” will ever be available in unicode so I could have the page with its Japanese name. -
I’m glad that you found a solution! Bear in mind that this is not a WordPress.com issue. This is how WWW (World Wide Web) treats non-Unicode characters in web addresses.
