Blogpost removed without any notification

    I have only just now noticed that an essay I wrote and published at my blog in Jan 2017 has been removed.

    I never received any notification about this. The only reason I can guess at is that I wrote about the HBO show Westworld and included an image from the show. That and that it was critical of the show.

    the page itself was not archived at that site, or if it was, has also been removed.

    AFAIK, I have no back-up of this essay, in which case this constitutes destruction of intellectual property.

    Hi jasunhorsley,

    I’ve looked into this and our system shows the post was deleted by your user account 6 months ago — it wasn’t deleted by us. Do you remember making any changes to the post around that time?

    A number of people have reported the same issue. We don’t have access to the timeline data stored on Facebook’s side, only they have the ability to remove information from your timeline so I recommend contact them for more information. There should be an option to do so if you login at facebook.com, click the “?” icon at the top right of the page and select “Report a Problem”.

    Nope, it definitely wasn’t done by me. You are suggesting a hack?

    It can hardly be a coincidence that the FB link has also gone.

    Very weird.

    Hi there,

    There are no signs of hacking. Our logs show that your account trashed several posts six months ago and one of them was the one you’re looking for.

    Can i get an IP address, and also a list of the posts that have been trashed?

    Hi there, here is a list of the posts that were trashed and deleted around 6 months ago by your username. I checked the IP address on those deletions, and the action was taken from the same IP address you are posting under here in the forum.

    There is no record of any DMCA complaints on your site, and if there had been, you would have been notified by our TOS team and would have been given the opportunity to appeal it.

    Is there any chance that someone could have gained access to your computer during that time while it was logged into WordPress and deleted posts?

    I did indeed delete all those posts – except the one I am complaining about. And it’s two years after the others so I can’t see how I could have accidentally deleted it while I was going through the others.

    Very mysterious. And I assume there is no way to retrieve it?

    Looking at our logs, the Matricular Living post was moved to the trash 7 months ago but not deleted until 6 months ago along with the ones that I listed or you.

    We have no way to retrieve it after this much time, and I see the web archive does not have the actual post archived.
