Blogroll categories showing up under Blog Post Categories
-
Hi. As of yesterday, the categories for my blogroll did not show up under my blog post category section unless there was a post actually assigned to the category. I looked at my site this evening and all of a sudden, all of my categories are showing up, even ones that don’t contain any posts. I’m not sure if it’s something I did, but I don’t like it! I am using the wordpress default theme. Hope I explained the problem well enough. Can anyone help me?

I can see what’s happened but don’t know why.
Best bet would be to put feedback in from your dashboard and ask the .com team for help. :)

I put in feedback last night and again just now. If it makes you feel any better, you’re not the only person.

What purpose do the categories serve in the Blogroll?
In answer to your question: Categories provide a means of separating lengthy lists of links by topical divisions thereby promoting greater reader accessibility.
Observation: Unfortunately, your wordpress.com username is linked to a commercial blog. Do you have a wordpress.com blog and is your question above directly pertaining to a wordpress.com blog? If so then please post the link for your wordpress.com blog.

For reference this may help understanding the relationship between blogroll, links and categories in the wp.com blog context.

timethief – thanks
Don’t understand your ‘unfortunately comment’ – the navasola blogs and personal webpage are not exactly commercial although they do refer to my partner’s and my property in Portugal which is available to rent (and trial activities in Spain) – is that what you refer to? -
When answering questions on the forum the most fortunate situation is that the blogger posting the question has linked their wordpress.com username to their wordpress.com blog. It’s also the most logical to expect they have done so considering that wordpress.com blogs are non-commercial blogs.
When the worpress.com username and wordpress.com blog are linked it means we can click on their wordpress.com username and see the blog and give better advice and answer their questions more quickly.
