blogroll category hierarchy
-
In the ‘blogroll’ section of my sidebar, i’d like to have several categories of links. Can you have categories within the Blogroll, or do you just have to make one solid list of links? I am also confused as to whether my Blogroll categories have to be the same as my post categories as added in ‘Manage’>’ Categories’.
I’ve searched around for this but I am mostly finding answers about post categories, not blogroll categories.
Thanks!

You can divide the blogroll into different sets of links; for instance you could have different lists for new blogs, favourites, photo blogs, etc. It can display slightly differently depending on your theme but I think you’re using Cutline, so that should be fine.
To divide them you just add a new blogroll category and you do that in Dashboard > Blogroll > Categories. They don’t have to be the same as your post categories; you can just add whichever ones you want and if you want to change the default category, you can do that by clicking edit. Hope that helps. :)

will these each appear under a new bold title on the sidebar? what i was hoping for was for ‘blogroll’ to be the only bold header and then lists and sub-lists below that. thanks heaps for the quick response, btw.

Basically it displays like three separate widgets in your sidebar, so each list will have a bold header before the links. I don’t think there’s a way to show a hierarchy or sub-lists in the sidebar, but if you wanted to have more control you could write the links yourself and then put them in a text widget instead. It would look much the same but it might be a little fiddly to get right… it depends how much time you want to spend doing it when the blogroll links work right away. Hope that makes it clearer. :)
