Blogroll link 404 Error
-
At the bottom of my ‘blog’ page there is a link titled ‘blogroll’ but clicking it just brings up an error screen.
If I add the links widget to my sidebar that works fine but the dud link at the bottom of the blog page remains.
I don’t really need/want a blogroll but just would like to avoid visitors cliking on dud links – if it’s just a bug in the theme then I may just have to live with it, but would like to know if I can fix it/delete it.
My site is http://homeeducation.wordpress.com and the problem is the same on Firefox/Mac and IE/Windows
Thanks

The reason that’s there is you have no links that are in your blogroll. Other themes don’t have that issue as far as I’m aware.
Let me caution you that not having a blogroll is extraordinarily isolating. A decent blogroll establishes your taste and connections, and indicates your commitment to the online community. You’ll be far less likely to be blogrolled yourself without one.

But if I go to “Blogroll” in my dashboard there are links there – the original ones to WordPress.com and WordPress.org and they are showing up in my sidebar. I may be being incredibly dense but I don’t understand how that can be the case.

Good point! You didn’t categorize those links as “blogroll” though. Maybe if you do that, they’ll show up on the page instead of the empty one.

Nope! and it didn’t work when I created another category and put them in there – so now I have 2 dud links at the bottom of that page!
ho hum

Temporary solution seems to be to delete the category “blogroll” – the links at the bottom of the blog page only seem to pick up posts rather than links which is interesting.
I’ll leave the question status as unresolved for now as I’d be interested to hear any real solutions.

Have you solved this by changing themes? I see you are using Ocean Mist, and i don’t see the dud links you were talking about.
