Blogroll still broken
-
previous post on this seems dead, but a few others reporting the same issue. I’m getting a 404 on blogroll and think I’ve done everything right.

I am seeing it on IE 6 on WinXP – but you do not need the “www” in front. Get rid of that in your address and it should work.

Same problem. I’m on Vista and IE7, but see the same result on 2nd XP machine. I deleted all my links in my blog roll and re-created one without “www” – same results. file not found 404.

same, but still the problem. The links work from the blogroll management dashboard…it’s just when I view site and click the blogroll that I get the 404. So the issue is NOT navigation to external sites, it is within my site.

sean,
I think I can see the problem now. A link in “categories” normally goes to posts in that category. As it is a blogroll, there are no posts -> 404 error.
My suggestion would be to put your “links” widget in your sidebar so that the blogroll is there and then try to work out why the “blogroll” category is appearing as a post category link. Looking through my categories none of the ones with no posts are showing in the “categories” listing – on your they are. I am not sure why. -
thank you! That was very helpful. I think part of the discovery as well is you MUST have a description in addition to name and url.
I did as you suggested and used the links widget.
I found that I can go to categories where blogroll is showing up (still gives me a 404) and I can edit it, but not delete. I tried re-naming it, then I got the option to delete so I blew it out. Everything seems ok now.
