Blogroll -vs- Links -vs – Blogroll -vs- Links: HELP!
-
Somehow I changed ”Blogroll” to ”Links” on the Opening page and I cannot find how to change it back.
It was Blogroll, but the 2 links automatically populated were WordPress.com and WordPress.org.
I wanted those under Links so that I could have a Heading titled Blogroll for links to actual user blogs, but no matter what I did all links populated under the Links heading. I then decided to change the heading back to Blogroll, but cannot. I even tried deleting all links to WordPress & other User blogs to see if it drops back to a default of sorts, but no luck.
Any suggestions?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Okay, been searching to no avail since posting originally.
And, while I have yet to find my own answer I have found one thing consistent: if anyone reads my inquiry the first thing they will post is “we need a link to your blog to be able to answer”. Doesn’t seem to me that viewing my blog will tell much more that my question does, but none-the-less, since I really would like an answer I will go ahead and post a link to my blog:

Still unresolved.

Please provide a link to your blog when asking questions here in the forums.
The links widget will arrange the links that you make by links category. Since the only links you have right now are assigned to the “links” category, the title of the widget will be links. Once you create some new links, and assign them to the blogroll category, then the widget will have blogroll at the top, with the blogroll category links underneath that, and then it will have a second heading called links with the links you have assigned to “links under that. The headings will be arranged alphabetically with the links names alphabetical under the headings.

Thank you for the reply. And, as you can see from my post (possibly a mere second before your reply) I added the link to my blog.
As for the response, well, actually, I have 2 links – one in the category “Blogroll” and one in the category “Links”. On the front page both are filed under “Links”.
Now, as for the widget – I have no widgets. All I have so far is the Ocean Mist theme and a header image that I uploaded.
Still unresolved.

So, I guess I have to add a Links widget, but I also read that if I install one widget that my sidebar is deleted & I then have to install a widget for anything I want in the sidebar.
I guess that will be my only hope & option. Not sure yet. uuugh!

OK, I just did a test with my test blog, and with the default sample set of widgets that show before you actually add any widgets under appearance > widgets, the sample will not display the links with the category headings.
Go to appearance > widgets and manually add in the widgets that you want in your sidebar and then click “save changes” and then go and view your blog. It should be showing the links listed under the categories you have created.

Okay, if I preview some other themes some will list “Links”, some will list “Blogroll” and some will list both. Could it be that the issue is that it was “Blogroll” on the basic page that I was first given and the theme is forcing it to “Links”?
If so, then I guess I could change to a different theme even though the color of the Ocean Mist theme appealed to me more.

LOL, okay, we really need to stop posting at the same time!
Thank you for the info. I tried and it worked, but, as I posted about 5 posts up, I will now have to install a widget for anything I want in the sidebar.
Sorry to be such a newb. I think part of the problem may be because my WordPress blog that I lost was hosted by someone and was on the .org server and I apparently had more options presented or something.
Anyway, Thank you again for the info.

When you add a widget, then all the default set of widgets of your theme will vanish. To add back other widgets, simply got to
dashboard -> appearance -> widgets and choose the ones you want. Save the widget editing you do and save changes. Voila! Just the widgets you want.
