Blogrolls to disappear?
-
The new WordPress 3.5 over at wordpress.org has been removed. I understand that wordpress.com installs the latest and greatest. For those of us who want to maintain the blogroll, what do you recommend?

I’m sorry but I don’t have an answer to that WordPress.ORG question. Please post it to the WordPress.ORG support forums http://wordpress.org/support/

Just a minute now. I think you may mean that you want to move content into a WordPress.org install and want to know how to retain your WordPress.com blogroll when you do that. I tagged this thread for a Staff response. If you subscribe to the thread you will be notified when they respond.

Looks to me like I wasn’t very clear. My question was about my WordPress.com site. I also maintain another WordPress site not hosted on WordPress.com. On such a site, I can install a plugin or write a widget.
My question was specifically about the site I maintain on WordPress.com servers, http://alanoldstudent.wordpress.com/.
Currently, it has a blogroll. I understand that WordPress.com has a multisite installation on which it hosts accounts like mine. It also maintains the latest and greatest versions of WordPress. It is not possible for me to add on plugins, as I can for the other site I maintain.
So my question is this:
- Will WordPress.com remove the blogroll functionality?
- If so, will we get warning? Can we rescue it via some other means?

Hi there,
There hasn’t been any decision made on this yet. If we do make a decision, some stopgap will be put in place so you don’t lose those links irretrievably.
I hope that helps!
