Blogs assigned to pages

I’m trying to allocate my blog posts to the pages I have set up but can’t work out how to do it. Can anyone help?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You can set your homepage to be a static front page and not the posts page. You would need to set the home page to be the static front page from your Site Customizer, by clicking on Homepage Settings.

You can then set your blog page to be the posts page (the same link above will help).

If you want posts to stay on the blog page but also want them on another page (or simply want lists of posts to show up on more than one page), you can do this for all posts of a particular category. You would create a seperate page, then when adding a link to this page from your main menu you can set it to show posts from this specific category. You can do this by editing your custom menus (in you My Sites menu, click on Customize next to Themes, click on Menus, and then click on or create the menu that you’d like to edit), and when clicking ‘Add Items’ make sure to choose Categories, and select the category that you’d want to show all posts for. This would mean making sure that all the posts you want to share on a second posts page have had this category added to them in each post’s editor.

    I hope this helps?

Hi, you can use the Display Posts Shortcode which allows you to fine-tune the posts you wish to display on a page.

Add the shortcode [display-posts] in a post or page, and use the arguments to query based on tag, category, post type, and many other possibilities. (Note: Set tags or categories for your post and pages)
    Examples

    [display-posts tag="advanced" posts_per_page="20"]

This will list the 20 most recent posts with the tag ‘Advanced’.

    [display-posts tag="advanced" image_size="thumbnail"]

This will list the 10 most recent posts tagged ‘Advanced’ and display a post image using the ‘Thumbnail’ size.

    Hope this helps
