Blogs not on Google.
-
Hey there.
I just recently created two blogs on here (wonderful service btw):
philalethes.wordpress.com
philomtl.wordpress.comI can’t, for the life of me, get them to show up on Google, after I:
– made sure the option to make them public was on (and yes, they were _created_ with it on in both cases)
– tried searches with things like the blog title and unmistakable key phrases
– waited long enough to make sure Google had enough time to crawl it
– manually submitted the urls to google and waited some more.I’m at a loss here. Any body has some advice?

Wait. :)
Usually takes upwards of a week for the top level page to show up and then 3-4 weeks for the entire site to be spidered.
This is one of the reasons why, and I hate to admit it, I prefer using MSN. It has a lot more pages spidered. Your site will be in there in under 2 weeks. Lookie. :)
I do note that you have very few inbound links to your site. Looks like just internal links as well as the Tag pages here at WP.com. You might want to create some or try to get other people to link to your site. If I remember to, I’ll throw up a shout out on my blog after I get back from lunch.
Also make sure that your blog is showing up on technorati.com, even if it means creating an account there and claiming your blog. A lot of my inbounds recognized by Google are from there.
There are already a couple of threads (I can’t find the other one I was thinking of. I’m hoping someone else will find it and provide a link) like this already. I’m sure when Timethief sees this one, she’ll throw in some suggestions as well. :)

edit: I did go ahead and submit both URLs to Google for you though.

Danke schon. I’m not much concerned that it shows a lot, or on top, just that it shows _at all_. You guys rock.

If you visit http://bloggersblurt.wordpress.com and read the two most recent blog postings on “Attracting Blog Readers” and all the comments to them, then you will have found all you need to know about securing readers and attracting search spiders. Welcome to the WordPress community where we all get by with a little help from friends. :D

I used this. Follow the instructions on the right side to submitting it to 40+ search engines:
You can submit it to thousands of search engines but that’s only if you want tons of emails asking for verification. :)

I want to get my wordpress showed in google!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m very angry about that!!!! -
It can take weeks to get listed in google, but your wordpress blog will get listed as every blog here on the service does. Just be patient, though I know that can be hard to do ;)

He doesn’t know that Google automatically disqualifies people who overuse exclamation points. Oh dear.

My tips:
1. Not only submit to Google, but also MSN (live.com), Yahoo (these enough)
2. Exchange links with indexed Sites.
3. Updated (post) your blog more often. My blog now is always within the top 5 relating keyword search with Google (of course same with MSN and Yahoo)

Using category tags as well is a plus. It was noted on a blog here recently that a link from a tag page showed up within google within about 6 hours. Plus I’ve found threads in Google from wp.org after only 9 hours or so. (makes searching for answers a pain actually.)
Do note that your mileage may vary.
