Blogs won’t upload to Wix

    Hi,
    My posts will not upload to Wix anymore.
    Usually I have to delete them from Wix first (otherwise they duplicate), and then re-upload them all. Having therefore deleted them all, this time it comes up with:-
    ‘A plugin or geographical restriction is blocking access to your blog’s WordPress REST API.
    ‘Try disabling some of your plugins… etc.’
    As far as I know, I don’t have any plugins; when I click on plugins, there is nothing that comes up to say that I have some, although it tells me that I might like to buy some!

  • Hi! Can you share a few more details of the process you’re using?

    I’m sure our systems will allow you to export to Wix, but generally that’s one and done, vs continuous updates.

    Let us know what you’re hoping to do and we’ll try to point you in the right direction.

    Your system usually definitely allows you to export to Wix, but not this time. You’re right, it’s usually a ‘one & done’ rather than continuous updates.
    What I usually have to do to avoid duplications when posting a new blog is to delete all the blogs on my Wix site, and then re-upload the whole lot.
    However, not this time – I come up with an error message on Wix which I would send to you, but I don’t seem to have the option to attach to this message.
    The message says:
    “A plugin or geographical restriction is blocking access to your blog’s WordPress REST API” (I have no geographical restrictions, and as far as I can see, no plugins).

    It now seems to be working…. a temporary ‘glitch’? I’ve no idea.

    Thanks for letting us know it’s working now.

    If Wix is using the REST API to fetch posts from your WordPress.com site, rather than importing the export file generated under Tools ->Export, it’s possible they might have run into some rate-limiting. I’m not even sure if we do rate-limiting on our API (we don’t provide API support in this forum), but from your description that sounds like the most likely explanation.

    If that’s the case it’s more an issue on Wix’s end, as it has to do with how they’re querying our API and how often they’re doing it, rather than something regarding your site itself that was being blocked.

    I’m mentioning it here just so you have this information, should this happen again :)
