Blog/Site (free) Domain Won't Delete!

    I recently deleted my blog/site (had no content), so that I could make another one with the same domain address (free), but when I try to change the domain address of the new one, the message says it’s already been taken (and I am sure it was by me, because the address was a word I made up/misspelled). I deleted the blog/site yesterday, but have not received a confirmation email, and even though when I try visiting the site it is ‘gone’, the domain is still unavailable for me to use on the new site.

    How long does it usually take to delete an empty site/blog?
