Blogum theme text colors changed to white. I can't fix the whole problem!
-
Hi, I just finished a new blog. I had a soft-launch of the site, and everything was fine. Then I went Live. There have been a lot of visits (200+) because it’s associated with an arts community. But the text of all the articles, the blog name, the sidebar, everything turned to white.
Original:
1. Background: i customized (free) to a light gray
2. Text: it was black. Can’t change it in Blogum theme anyway. This was almost everything, incl: Title, tagline, menus, article headings, date, categories, sidebar titles, sidebar text, ALMOST EVERYTHING was black. I had no control over it. The only change I made was to quoted text blocks within posts: the theme had medium gray, I changed to dark gray within the posts.Messed up version:
1. Background was same light gray (which is what I want)
2. Text: Title, tagline, menus, article headings, date, categories, sidebar titles, sidebar text, ALMOST EVERYTHING turned white. The quoted block texts remained dark gray.Temporary fix, I go back & forth between:
1. changing the background color to an ochre via the free appearance changes, so the white text appears on the darker background
2. going into CSS & changing what I think is ALL the text to black. But it doesn’t touch the Blog tagline, the menu item I’m on, the post date/comments, and sidebar extra text. I can’t figure it out.
3. I paid $30 for customization, and found out Blogum doesn’t let me manually change the text colors. The only choice is background, which I can change for free anyway.
4. However, I can choose from the pre-set palettes. I found one that “looks” like I fixed all the text colors back to black (except my dark gray block text, which I want to remain dark gray.) It says: saving, then says updated or something. Then: only the background is changed back to white. The text is still white. Screwed up.HELP!!
p.s. in Firefox, even after the CSS change to some black text, it’s all white still. In Explorer & Safari, the black text I changed via CSS is black, but as I mentioned above, the Blog tagline, the menu item I’m on, the post date/comments, and sidebar extra text- all still white.

Several bloggers are encountering similar problems with their themes. I flagged this thread for staff attention. Please be patient as they will come and update you as soon as possible. Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know! I have made a temporary fix of the problem.
I’m also wondering if the Blogum theme in fact doesn’t allow changes to text colors, etc. If not, I think I’ll ask for the $30 back since I can change background via the dashboard, and I can change the color of text in posts via the post editor.

Staff have been notified of this issue and are looking into the details. Please have patience.
There should be a sticky post up top on these forums when there is some more information. I don’t think it has to do with Blogum because there are threads here with similar problems where users are working with other themes.
