Blurry illustration GIFF and PNG
-
Hallo!
I have added an illustration to my blog Analysuppgift 2.0 (not yet published). It gets very blurry on the blog. It does not look blurry when I look at it in my Media Library but as soon as i get i on the blog it is blurry. I have tried both with the formats GIF and PNG. What else can I do.
Thank you in advance

Are you uploading the images as the exact size you want them to display in the post or page?
-
I have not changed the size of the illustration. I tried to upload another illustration today which looked even worse. I have not had any troubles with pictures.

If it’s not published, then we volunteers cannot see it. Is it possible for you to publish it? (And link to it)

The first image in your “Test” post is 604px wide and the second is 548px wide, but you have inserted 300px wide versions of them. Images lose some color and sharpness when downsized by WP. For best quality on the post, you need to use images that are narrower than the main column of the theme you’re using, and insert them in full size.

Thank you! But what does “you need to use images that are narrower than the main column of the theme you’re using” mean? I am still not sure how to do that.
-
The main column in 2011 is 585px wide. So you need to either select images that are up to 585px wide (even less for captioned images, because of the extra frame), or use an image editing application (or an online tool) to scale down wider images before uploading them to your blog. Otherwise you have to be content with poor quality thumbnails that will display correctly once you click them to see the full-size original.

When I look in the Media Library it says that the second picture is 548 px. That is less than 585 px. How come the version I posted is 300 px? And how can that be too much?
I still have a lot to learn about images :).

You need to post your images “full size” as well as having them edited to the size for your theme before uploading them.
If you want that image to be 300px (which is narrower than the max width your theme allows) then you need to upload it as a 300px wide image. But if you insert the 548px image into the post at full size it won’t be blurry.

That’s good! I’ll mark this resolved.
(sorry for the delay in getting back to you (work), but justpi was here quicker: as long as all is right, we can all smile)
