body width on posts

    Posts are being displayed to the far right when the screen width gets wide enough. I think it’s a similar problem to the one described in the post linked below, but, unfortunately, I don’t have access to the CSS to try to fix it.

    What’s the best way to fix this? It’s not an issue in pages, only posts.

    Hi,

    The Gazette theme displays posts in three columns on the posts page (blog page), as can be seen on the front page of the Gazette demo. It’s the way the theme was designed to display posts on the posts page. Single posts do not display in this manner, as illustrated by your post How to Post, though I’m curious as to how you were able to overlap the sidebar with the content of the post.

    Thank you for the reply! Yes, it’s the single post view that is acting weird. When the window is wide enough the content of the post appears in the right hand sidebar. (And when the window is narrower, as you noted, it overlaps into the sidebar.) I have the theme installed on another site and it’s not happening there… I’m a bit stumped.

    When the window is wide enough the content of the post appears in the right hand sidebar.

    I hadn’t seen that, because my desktop PC is only moderately wide, 1280 x 1024, but I was able to produce the effect by zooming out one click on the FF browser.

    I don’t have an explanation for this effect or the overlapping, but I suspect that an HTML error or errors in your post might be the causative factor in each case. See the HTML Troubleshooting support page for information and suggestions.

    If you’re unable to detect an HTML error — often a single stray tag can be the fault — that is causing the errors, then I’d suggest that you add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention. There’s a link in the sidebar here with which you may subscribe to the thread and thereby be notified when someone next responds.

  • Did you by any chance copy and paste this post from the front page of your site (or a different site)?

    I was thinking along the same lines as @musicdoc1 so I took a look at the HTML, the post starts with the following:

    <div id="page" class="hfeed site">
    <div id="content" class="site-content">
    <div class="site-content-inner">
    <div id="primary" class="content-area">

    Which are elements that are already used by your theme – so the theme CSS is firing twice from some things, distorting the page.

    If you need to paste content into a post, it’s best to use the Plain Text pasting, so any HTML or formatting can be stripped out:
