Bold Text All over the place

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a blog for a couple of months now and suddently, all my texts in the front appear in bold. This happened since a specific post. I tried everything but nothing worked. I tried to get help in here, tried to find why this was happening but i didn’t understood. Please help me. My blog is http://www.hotvnews.wordpress.com and it all started in the post : 24 – A Review.

The weirdest thing is that the actual post, the last one isn’t in bold like the others.

I see what you mean but haven’t a clue what to do about it. Coming out of nowhere like that suggests a back end issue so I’m recommending that you send in a feedback.

    Ask WordPress support for help?

have you checked that you do not have an unclosed tag? that’s usually the case. if you’re certain all your tags are closed, then go ahead and send a feedback.

I do see a lot of empty span tags.

The open b tag is within the more link for the ’24’ post. There’s no closing b tag.

    a quick fix:

select all of the text from the post. ctrl-c.
    delete post.
    create new post.
alt-B, which gives the option as a button to insert text only (no tags!) in the editor.
ctrl-p (pastes the text in the window, as long as you select the window)
    save
post again. if you want, adjust the post time/date to the old time/date you had.

it might be an easier work-around than trying to close tags, especially if you’re not HTML saavy.

    good luck

    Um, no.

You may want to look at the post in question. He uses html tags throughout it.

  • Unknown's avatar

    didn’t do that. assumed.

    ::looks at assume diagram again::

yep — that’s me in the beginning.

    sorry.

Not a problem. Thanks though for the help. :)

I had the same problem on my blog, and the problem was not an unclosed tag. Strangely, it was a closing tag that was never opened. Here’s a representation of what it looked like: (Can’t use preformatted text tag!?…)

    “closing strong tag”
“opening strong tag”Main Issues:”closing strong tag”

All text below the above code, including other posts, was bold. Removing the first strong tag fixed the problem. The WYSIWIG editor goofed on this one, so knowing a little HTML goes a long way.

I had that issue when I copied and pasted from another website. The only solution I found was to delete the entry, paste the text into Notepad, then make a new entry pasting the plain text in and adding formatting later. More work, but it totally solved the problem.

ckoester, I serioiusly doubt it. More like your using of the rich text editor and it’s common issue of throwing extra html tags in there is what caused the issue. We’ve discussed it many times in the past.

A closing tag would not affect it.

drmike – I’m not sure what you are doubting.

    Here’s the simple version:

I created a new post with some bold text.
When I published that post, every post before that one turned to bold.
I found an unnecessary closing strong tag just before my bold text.
When I removed that unnecessary tag, the bold formatting was removed from the rest of my blog.

Removing that unnecessary closing strong tag fixed my blog.

It does not make sense when you think about how html works, but it fixed the issue.

Maybe I’ve found a solution! It was the “strong” tag applied to the “more” tag: not good for me! ;)

Yeah you can destroy an entire page because of a tag. I should know. :)
