Bold Type Error
-
Bold type displays properly in Chrome but not Firefox or IE. I use Twenty Eleven theme. When theme is changed bold type displays correctly in all browsers.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – The bolding appears for me in Firefox 25 and IE9. What versions of those browsers are you using?
-
eurello, thanks for responding. I use IE 11 and Firefox 25. All the scriptural references properly display in bold type on Chrome but not IE or Firefox even after clearing out the cache. I typically compose on Chrome, but have to reset the bold type on the other browsers.

Hi there – Hmm, it works for me in all those browsers. Could you please make a screenshot of where the bold isn’t appearing on your alternate browser? Here are instructions for how to make a screenshot: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/
You can upload it to your blog’s Media Library and I can look at it there.

The screenshot (taken from IE) is uploaded to my media library. Please note that the linked text should all be in bold type, but only a few display properly. You may not have noticed the error because I am slowly correcting the affected posts by editing each of them in IE and Firefox. So odd that all posts display properly in Chrome where they were originally composed.

Curious, but I copied and pasted the IE screen shot into Chrome and the page displayed correctly.

Hi there – I’m sorry, but the problem is not entirely clear to me. Can you please do the following? Please create or edit a post in Chrome and bold a section of it. Then, please confirm that that bolding is not displaying in your other browsers.
Then, please reply to this email and link me directly to that post, and let me know which section of text you bolded, so that I can take a look at the HTML of the post, and look at it in a few different browsers.
Thanks very much. :)

Paragraphs of bold text display correctly. The problem is with hyperlinked text — specifically Bible verses that I link to. Here is a good example: Your Faith Has Made You Well
If you scroll down 3/4 of the page you’ll see this line of linked verses:
See: (Mk 5:34, Mk 10:52, Lk 8:48, Lk 17:19, Lk 18:42, Mt 9:22)
These verses should appear in bold type. In Chrome they do, but not in IE or Firefox — at least on my computer.
I’ve cleared the cache and reinstalled Firefox, but the problem persists.
It may be a problem with my computer settings since you are able to see the proper display.
Thanks for your help.

See: (Mk 5:34, Mk 10:52, Lk 8:48, Lk 17:19, Lk 18:42, Mt 9:22)
Are not bold for me either FF 25.0.1

auxclass, thank you for the input. What puzzles me, too, is that some links on a page will appear in bold but not all the links. Another curious thing is that I use to be able to click on the “bold” tab once to highlight text, but since this other problem started I have to click on the tab twice. Nothing happens on the first click.

I’m still trying out other themes and continue to find that my posts all appear correctly on all browsers when I switch from Twenty Eleven. Hmm?!

Hi there – Ok, I see the issue now. What’s happening is that you are using the following HTML tags for bold:
<b> and </b>Chrome recognizes these, but the other browsers don’t. Instead, use:
<strong> and </strong>If you use the toolbar button to apply the bold, this should happen automatically. Do you typically copy and paste your text from another application, such as Word? I notice there’s some extra code in there. You could try using the paste-as-plain-text toolbar button and then formatting your text directly in the editor using the buttons:

Yes. I compose, copy and paste from another application. This solves the problem. Thank you.
