BOOK LITE THEME CUSTOM DESIGN CSS
-
Hey everyone.
I want to try the css modification for my blog http://www.janamalderle.wordpress.com before I may buy the update for individual design.
The problem is, I am not so into css and I can’t figure out how I can change the width of the whole layout. Everytime I open my blog with my browser it looks too big.
Plus I want to change the fonts. I’d like to use Didot for the posts and also for the post titles. And how can I change the header title font plus the navigation bar font?
I’d be so happy if someone could help me.
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi! I saw that the latest post on http://janamalderle.wordpress.com/ is titled “Leaving WordPress?” Are you leaving??
You can try the Custom Design upgrade before purchasing. Here are the instructions to set that up in case you need them:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#preview-custom-design-before-purchaseEach theme is unique, so you have to dig into the CSS and find the right selectors in order to adjust the layout width like you’ve described. Adjusting layout width is a lot harder in some themes compared to others. It doesn’t look too bad in the Book Lite theme. Here is an example I came up with as a quick test:
#main, #colophon { max-width: 950px; {That example changes the default max-width of 750px set in the Book Lite theme and increases it by 200px to 950px. You can change the number to something else if you’d like. Whatever you change it to, you’ll also want to edit the Appearance > Customize > CSS > Content Width setting to match the new width.
WordPress.com comes with a fixed set of fonts. Didot isn’t one of them, but you might like to try out “Raleway” or “LFT Etica Display”—they’re not an exact match for Didot but they are skinny fonts which match serif style in Didot and I thought you might like one of them. You can see all of the font choices in the Appearance > Customize > Fonts panel.
