In this theme, am I able to have any items on the sides at all? I want a follow me button but I dont want it all the way at the bottom if possible…
Also, how do I insert widgets inside of pages?

The Book Lite Theme allows widgets only in the footer area.

Most widgets found in the available widgets page can’t be inserted into posts or pages. Exceptions include the following:
1. Widgets that have shortcodes, such as the archives and Twitter Timeline widgets.
2. Widgets created using text widgets, in some cases may be used in pages. Examples:
Clocks and animated widgets, with code adapted for use on WordPress.com with Gigya code

I saw an example of a website using book lite that had only icons on a “follow me” page like facebook, pinterest, instagram, etc. Is this something I can insert using text widgets into a page and if so, how exactly do I do so? Thank you.

Yes, you can do this. See the Add Social Media Buttons to Your Sidebar or Footer support page. The code provided there, which you’ll have to adapt by including the icon URLs or full links for the various social media accounts you wish to include, works the same way in a widget, post, or page.
There’s also an example in the forum topic Image border on social media text widget, from last month, before I knew how to safely insert code in a post here. The “class=”textwidget”” identity may be omitted.
You may center the group of icons as follows:
Place <div align="center"> before the code, and </div> after -

Hi there, Book Lite only has footer widget areas. Since it’s a single-column theme, there isn’t a sidebar. :-)
Let me know if you’re all set – looks like musicdoc1 gave you some good advice on adding social media links.
