Bookmarked a site: will they see it if I change the URL?

    Hi there, if someone has bookmarked your site and you change your URL address (i.e. change the blog name), will they still be linked to your site, or see your site? I am aware that supposedly links will be broken, but is that the case with bookmarks too? Thanks!

    By URL address, I mean changing the site address ^^

    Hi there!

    When you change your site’s address, the old address does not redirect to the new one. So, in that scenario, visitors who bookmarked the old address will not be redirected to the new address.

    You can consider using a custom domain on your site. This gives you the ability to move sites or change the underlying WordPress.com address without potentially losing your visitors because they will see your site as long as your custom domain is active and connected/pointed to the desired site.

    A custom domain is included for free for the first year with all our annual plans. I recommend the WordPress.com Personal plan, which will also remove ads from your site and give you additional storage space.
