    The most important detail, in my opinion, is that .org doesn’t come with help from WordPress in setting up and ongoing support. Some hosts have this through them, but you’ll have to do the bulk of setting up yourself.

    Benefits include being able to use any free theme you find online, but again – most of these are not supported in an ongoing way.

    If you follow the directions at the link above, it should be clear how to use the .com features to set up your domain. You can set up the domain first and then get the custom design upgrade when you decide it’s necessary.
