Bought a new Primary Domain … Need to Cancel the OLD Domain
-
the details of it are this…
we registered the domain http://www.crossfit-hi.com but we cannot use that name due to trademark issues.
on our dashboard, YESTERDAY, i went to the Store>Domains and bought a new domain that has no trademark issues … http://www.crossfithighimpact.com and made that my primary domain.
the trademark issues are still in place though because the http://www.crossfit-hi.com domain still re-routes users to the crossfithighimpact.com site. I need to CANCEL the http://www.crossfit-hi.com domain and keep the crossfithighimpact.com domain.
how do I do this???
Your Support Page gives details of how to cancel, but none of it is relevant as the My Upgrades page gives no option to cancel the OLD DOMAIN.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there – canceling a domain after 2 days of purchase means you completely give up ownership of the domain. There is no guarantee the domain will become available to re-register after cancellation.
You are welcome to keep your domain with us and update the nameservers to point to another hosting provider by following this guide:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/You could then keep the domain “parked” but not pointing to a live site.
After 60 days from the date of purchase or registrant contact information change, you may also transfer your domain to another registrar.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/If you would like to completely cancel your ownership of the domain name, please reply to confirm and I’ll be glad to take care of it.

Hi I followed the link and I tried to change the domain server name and changed the status of the Crossfit-hi.com email to “parked” but when I type in http://www.crossfit-hi.com it still re routes me to crossfithighimpact.com. I want crossfit-hi.com to be disabled so it doesn’t re route at all or do anything at all. How do I do that? What do I need to change the domain server to???
-
I think I may have just figured it out. The domain status was LOCKED and now i just changed it to UNLOCKED. so now I should be able to PARK it I think.
LMK if that is the correct fix for the site. Thanks.

Hi there, unlocking a domain will allow you to transfer it to another registrar if that’s the route you want to take: Transfer a domain to another registrar
Is this a domain you want to continue to own, or not?
If you want to give up ownership of the domain completely and let someone else eventually purchase it, I can cancel the domain for you and then it will no longer point to your WordPress.com site. Just let me know.

Hi,
Just to recap, I own CrossFit-HI.com and CrossFitHighImpact.com. Right now CrossFitHighImpact.com is the PRIMARY, and CrossFit-HI.com currently re-directs to the PRIMARY, CrossFitHighImpact.com.
I want to STILL OWN Crossfit-HI.com, but I don’t want it active at all…ie I don’t want it to redirect to CrossFitHighImpact.com.
SO – I followed the directions for transferring a domain…i unlocked CrossFit-HI.com and then I marked it as “PARKED.” Is that the right fix?
I did that yesterday, but when I type in http://www.crossfit-hi.com it still redirects to CrossFitHighImpact.com.
Let me know what exactly I need to do to still own CrossFit-Hi.com, but have it be absolutely inactive. Thank you.

Let me know what exactly I need to do to still own CrossFit-Hi.com, but have it be absolutely inactive.
Here are two possible solutions:
1) Create a “dummy” site on your account, set it to Private under Settings > Reading, and then we can map CrossFit-Hi.com to that dummy site. The site would display only a login screen and not be accessible. Instructions for settingn a site to private: Privacy Settings
2) You can transfer the domain to a registrar that provides a “parking” option, following these instructions: Transfer a domain to another registrar
If you need help with either option, just let me know.

I want to follow option 1.
can you give me the step by step of how to do that?
I don’t know how to map CrossFit-Hi.com to the dummy site. I also don’t know how to make a dummy site. does that involve just setting up a new wordpress blog?

does that involve just setting up a new wordpress blog?
That’s right! Just create a new blog under your username crossfithi by going here while logged in:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/Then, set the site to Private using the instructions I sent before.
When you’re all done, let me know the address of your new blog and I’ll switch the domain mapping over to that new site.

Hi, Thanks!!! My new site is:
Please let me know when the domain mapping (ONLY for crossfit-hi.com) is done. Thanks again.

Hi there – the domain mapping for crossfit-hi.com has been moved to cfdummy.wordpress.com as requested.
Just let me know if you need anything else.
