Bought a website on wordpress.com that I wanted to host on wordpress.org

  I cancelled my domain registar within two days and did not receive a refund. I also need the name of this website for another site I am building. But now it is not available. Will I be able to get back the original website domain I wanted? Please help. Thank you

  Hi Ben – If you still want to use the domain, you should transfer it rather than cancel it. You can’t fully transfer it until 60 days after registration, but until then, you can use it with your new site by updating the name servers, as described here: Change name servers

  Once the 60 days are up, you can transfer it out to another registrar:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/transfer-domain-registration/#set-the-domain-manager-password

  Hello,

  Thank you so much for responding. I am trying to create a professional website as I am going through many applications in my job search. That is why benmacaluso.com is important to me. I really can’t afford to wait 60 days but I understand there is a rule. I will try to change the name of the servers. Thank you again! I will let you know how it goes.

  I am able to get to the step where I can change the name server. I just don’t know what to change it too. I have wordpress installed on my computer and I am trying to register benmacaluso.com on dreamhost.com. I type in benmacaluso.com and it says it is already taken. I am trying to make it so dreamhost does not recognize that domain. Can you tell me what I need to type in when I am editing my nameservers to make this happen? Thank you very much.

  Hi Ben – You want your domain to point to your Dreamhost site, correct? Instructions for how to do this on Dreamhost’s end, including the proper name servers to use, are here:
