Bought domain name and now I can't use it unless I have an expensive paid plan

    I set up my wordpress site…..I figured I would save some money by buying and connecting a domain to my wordpress site. Well after the fact I learned I needed to have an expensive paid plan (around 240 for a year) in order to do just that.
    I want to get a refund and cancel my domain…how do I do that? I looked and there was no record of my purchase of the domain, as far as I can tell. However I will check my email more thoroughly.

    Hi! Sorry for the misunderstanding on that. Right now we do require a paid plan to use a domain as primary.

    And I don’t see any domains on this account, but can you send us the domain you registered?

    It’s likely under another account, so if you have an email with the purchase confirmation, you can log out and log in with the address that was sent to, then head to https://wordpress.com/me/purchases to cancel.

    Also so you’re aware, new domains can be canceled for the first few days they’re registered. They go on hold for a few more days, then they’re released. If you need to use the domain right away elsewhere, or if you bought it more than a few days ago, let us know and we’ll help.
