bought GoDaddy domain…can't link to WordPress

    Hi,

    I purchased my domain name from Go Daddy.com today and put the nameservers in as the GoDaddy representative said to link it to my WordPress however my WordPress is not registering the domain name that I purchased…I’m not quite sure why they aren’t linking up together.

    I would prefer if I could speak with someone on the phone regarding this matter.

    There is no phone support here. If you would like to use your domain you will first need to purchase a domain mapping upgrade http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/ set up domain mapping. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    After you make the domain mapping purchase here > Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades and do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

    Yes, I’ve caught on that there is no phone support here which is most annoying.

    Also, I just read the instructions for domain mapping which said to switch the name servers over to wordpress i.e. “NS1Wordpress…etc”

    I then click the “I have registered (my new domain name) and set its name servers. Add it to my blog.”

    But at the top it reads “WordPress can’t register…( my new domain name)”

    Sidenote: I just bought my domain name today on godaddy around 1pm CST and the representative did say that it could tak eup to 24/48 hours to process….So should I wait for another day or so to try again or will I still need to do this domain mapping thing again…I’m not savy in regards to building websites which is why this is more of a headache than I would prefer

    The error message sounds like a registration error not a domain mapping error – are you using the instructions at the link I posted above and now trying to do Step 2 – Add a domain?

    You only need to do Domain Mapping once – but you need to do all the steps to the end
