  I bought my domain from WordPress and want to be hosted externally so that I can be a self hosted blog.
  this business has the option of being hosted externally, i just want to make sure before putting in the money, would i be able to become a self hosted business if my domain is still with WordPress but the hosting is offered by another business.

  i hope i didn’t confuse you guys:)

  Yes you can have the domain registration at WordPress.COM and your site hosted not at WordPress.COM. You just need to change where the name servers are pointed. In your case you would point the name servers to your new host, your new host would provide you with the correct name server into.
