Box shadow
-
Just recently I’ve noticed that when trying to apply a box-shadow (CSS) property to an image or div it no longer ‘works’. This is happening in new posts.
All previously-published posts/pages still seemed to retain this property, so I found this strange…until I made a small, update to a Page and discovered that the box-shadow properties no longer appeared. Those properties are still in the html code on that very page and I made no changes to the CSS anywhere. But when you look at the page you’ll see that NO shadows appear anywhere and they are supposed to be around every image.
Note: NO changes to any CSS property were made…

I just submitted a question and found something else I want to add. Although the Page in question DID have all the box-shadow properties intact, once I revised and updated it ALL the box-shadow CSS properties disappeared! ALL OF THEM.
The new Post I created and published has also erased that property from the image. I JUST NOW added it back in. After I hit the update button – POOF it magically disappeared: https://m2labs.wordpress.com/2022/12/05/oh-ho-ho-hes-magick/
On the above Post I tried several times to add the box-shadow and it disappeared each and every time!
Is WordPress not supporting this CSS property? If so, could you please provide a list of other CSS properties you no longer support.

Hey there, are you adding CSS directly to your html blocks? I’ve heard of that getting stripped sometimes.
Could you:
- get screenhots of it working and not working, and upload them to https://wordpress.com/media
- send links to the pages you used in the screenshots?
We’ll take a look.

Also, I found your other topic and combined it into the first. That would explain why I couldn’t see any shadows on that page.
I have heard some CSS properties won’t work on free sites. I don’t have a list of them, unfortunately, but if you could show a page that does work and one that does not, that should help us track down issues.
