I do not know what you mean by boxes. If you are copying and pasting from Microsoft WORD it’s not web compliant so you need to enable this:
Dashboard > Settings > Writing
Formatting
__ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically
“save changes”On March 24th, Staff introduced new features to WordPress.com and eliminated some old ones from the editor. They removed the “Paste as (Microsoft) Word” button from the Visual Editor toolbar in your post/page editor window. All we have now is the paste as plain text icon that we can use and it removes all formatting. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. Are you referring to table HTML tables? See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=8#post-1710525
Note: Firefox users on Windows machines may need to clear the browser cache with ctrl+shift+del in order to get Firefox to recognize the formatting. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/posting-of-word-files-with-tables?replies=6
To create your own HTML tables see here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/table-coding-for-wordpress-com-users/
Note that if you use Windows then Windows Live Writer it has a tablemaker > http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/windows-live-writer/

Still not working. I cleared cache and cookies. I used to just copy and paste. now there are no lines, it will not center. I wish they would have left it the way it was. Can I put it back the way it was. Is there something that I can do without having to learn how to write the codes?

Staff changed the editor and copy and pasting HTML tables from WORD no longer works. See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/the-paste-as-word-button-has-been-removed-from-the-visual-editor?replies=8#post-1710525

The good old days of copying and pasting from Microsoft WORDS and having the formatting retained are gone. Staff changed the editor and there is no paste from WORD button. You can copy and paste in plain text and that means there is no formatting. Hence your have to learn how to make your own HTML tables if that’s what you are after.

When will this button from “the good old days” be reinstated? It seems a very backward step to have to create a HTML tables when there is a much simpler way of doing so – for much of the time.
