Box.net not showing files
-
I’ve been using my Box.net widget for months with no problem. In the last week or two it’s been acting funny. It’ll suddenly show as empty when I view my blog, “No files”. Refresh the page, no change. If I then go and login to my Box.net account separately it seems to kick-start things: I can then reload my blog page and the files show up.
A couple of days later, this will repeat again: widget suddenly shows no files, a login to box.net fixes it.
Coinciding with Firefox 3? Just a guess, no idea really.
-
I’m using FF 2.0.0.15 and the box.net widget shows “No Files!”, so I’m thinking it’s a box.net problem. Can you see the box.net widget on my site OK (it’s pretty low on the page)?
-
Just a thought, with all the recent changes on box.net, check to make sure the widget URI points to the correct folder on box.net.
-
Wow, that happened to me, too. At first I thought it was only an isolated incident when my internet connection wasn’t as fast as it ought to be. But now that someone also experienced it… let’s write to box.net’s support ( (email visible only to moderators and staff) ) and hope they can fix the cause.
-
Have you tried changing the style of the box.net widget on your blog to see if that made any difference? I notice that both of you are using a different style widget than the one I’m using on mine. I used the box.net code and pasted it into the widget here on wordpress.com

I’ve taken catshade’s advice and written (email visible only to moderators and staff) about the problem.
-
Deleted, then re-added the box.net widget, and it seems to be working now. Let’s see if it lasts.
-
I just visited your blog and its box.net widget is empty.
Do you mean using the code that’s provided in box.net’s site? Thanks, I’ll try that.
-
FWIW-I see the files in theplummetonions’ box.net widget.
@catshade- Granted that it was a long time ago that I set up my box.net widget, but it’s the box.net widget embed code that goes into your wordpress.com widget

Hey, Kendra from Box.net here – I can see files on your blog right now, so maybe check it in a different browser… In the meantime, I have made the team aware of the issue. Keep us posted if you continue to have trouble seeing your files.
Take good care,
Kendra

Well, I’ve been seeing the same thing on and off: I’d guessed that it was either transitory, due to Internet Explorer and it’s recent random errors (mostly “out of memory at line x”), or simply due to very long posts making for lengthy pages. At the moment I’ve just set up direct links to all the files in the index tabs, but it would be nice to have the box widget working reliably again.

@ruscumag-you’ve got files at the moment. (I’m using FF 2.0.0.15)
@theplummetonions-I’d suggest writing Kendra, since she so generously provided her email address.

Same here…when I get it to show my files, they disappear the next time that I log into WP. Just started recently. It’s definitely a Box.net problem.

Just received from (email visible only to moderators and staff), who’ve been looking into this since yesterday:
“Hello, Thank you for your message. We have detected the issue and our engineering team is working to resolve the problem. We apologize for any inconvenience. Let us know if we can help you with anything further. Sincerely,The Box.net Team”
-
And now this, from the helpful Kendra, above:
“Hey – Kendra from Box.net here. I just got word from our Customer Service Manager that the bug has been fixed and is live.
Let me know if you continue to have any trouble and take good care.”
My box widget seems to be working this morning, so fingers crossed that’s it sorted.
