  I’ve done a bit of searching through the forums (perhaps not hard enough?) and was unable to find a way to format a single press of “enter” as <br>, rather than [the “p” tag, which won’t appear here, for some strange reason…], while composing entries. Is such a thing possible?

  It is with careful pressing of the backspace key after pressing return.
  It’s also doable by clicking the HTML button and editing the source.
  Neither are ideal, but they work.

  You have to edit the wp_includes/js/tinymce/tiny_mce_gzip.php file and modify the following lines:

  force_p_newlines : true,
  force_br_newlines : false,

  That’s not possible here. End users can not modify the php file.
