Brand new to WordPress.com (Help)

    Hello,

    I am new to WordPress.com – I’ve been a previous user of WordPress.org My questions might have straightforward (easy) answers, but I’ve been getting mixed answers from multiple people – so I need some clarification.

    I own a domain name with hosting through HostMonster and I love a couple of the premium themes that WordPress.com has to offer. My questions:

    1.) If I purchase a theme on WordPress.com – is there any way that I can install it onto HostMonster?

    2.) Are premium WordPress.com themes customizable? I like a bunch of the premium themes, but I want to customize the theme myself once I buy it, so that it will resemble a website and not strictly a blog.

    1) No – but the same theme might be available from the original developers if it was made outside WordPress.COM (before modifying it to run here)

    2) Different themes have different custom features that are built in – if the built in features are not enough you can buy the Custom Design (CSS) upgrade to change the look but not the function of a theme

    Themes have a 30 day refund window so you can try and send it back if you don’t like it

    When you say it might be available from the original developers – would you find that on wordpress.org or their own websites?

    @knoubrw23 There are a number of premium (eg not free) themes for self-hosted sites available in the WordPress.org theme repository at http://wordpress.org/themes/commercial/ . If you are using the theme on a self-hosted site, you can also purchase one directly from a theme developer.
