Broken admin account
-
Argh. While trying to link my accounts for various wordpress.com and wordpress.org sites, I managed to break the admin account for one of my self-hosted (wordpress.org) blogs. I can’t log in to it using any of the old details, or with my new unified account.
I can see ONE user in the database, but the password is hashed and the user has no activation key.
Has anybody got an idea as to how I can either activate the stored account, or create a new admin?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I resolved this (didn’t quite ‘fix’ it) by:
setting up a new blog with the same theme
setting up my admin account in the new blog
replacing the users & usermeta tables in the ‘broken’ blog with ones from the new blog
amending the values in usermeta that reflected the table prefix
changing the table prefixes of users & usermeta to match the existing tables. It was a nightmare, but mainly because it took me a long time to figure out what to do!
If you’re in a similar position, I suggest you first check that your ‘users’ & ‘usermeta’ data matches your current WordPress account and the rest of the tables in the database. If you can’t find the issue, at least you can follow my long-winded solution.
