Broken Image Links
-
When I link an image from another site (pbase for these particular ones) – they sometimes come through and sometimes show up as the little white box with an “x” like they are broken links.
How can I fix this?
Thanks

Sorry – new to this – really just frustrating:
Blog address:http://www.wanderinground.wordpress.com
It’s happening to all the photos that I link and not actually upload” to a gallery.
Thanks

Note: they are fine at first, than get “x” ed out as time goes by.
Time being a few minutes…

Here is an example of a link…
<img alt=”” src=”http://i.pbase.com/o3/16/841416/1/129549408.We3dMbp9.DSC_1748.jpg” class=”alignnone” width=”555″ height=”800″ />
These are being linked from another site I have and other than wordpress, they have always worked on every other site I have linked too. Not sure what the problem is.
Thanks again and sorry for the scattered info.

I used firebug and edited the width of the image and it came back. The theme you are using has a post width of around 500px. Your images cannot be wider than that. Here is the code you have:
<img alt="" src="http://i.pbase.com/o3/16/841416/1/129549408.We3dMbp9.DSC_1748.jpg" class="alignnone" width="555" height="800" />Open the post in the editor, switch to the html tab, and modify the code to where it looks like this:
<img alt="" src="http://i.pbase.com/o3/16/841416/1/129549408.We3dMbp9.DSC_1748.jpg" class="alignnone" width="500" />Note that I took out the height attribute and just left the width. That will preserve the image proportions.

the sacredpath,
thanks for taking the time.
…didn’t work though. I did try to resize… There are now two photos showing now for some reason, but the others still not. Plus, the one photo is only 400×400 and still being x’ed out.John

I don’t know if this is the issue or not, but the whole middle of the US is experiencing all kinds of power interruptions due to the mega-storm.
One other thing, I’m seeing some validation errors in your main page related to galleries. These errors might be causing the issues.
Go to settings > writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, switch from the visual tab to the HTML tab (waiting for the page to refresh) and then switch back to the visual tag (again waiting for it to refresh), and then click “update post.” Check your blog and if things correct. Keep doing that will all posts on your main page.
Since I can click on any of the titles of your posts and see the image on the single-post page, I think the issue might have to do with some bad code in one of your posts.
-
You have not, by any chance, used Picapp, have you? There’s an issue with them.

thesacredpath – hmmm, tried both your suggestions: “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “save changes.”
and
switching from visual to html and back and saving …didn’t work.
I also ruled out specific computer issues.
The photos are actually appearing and disappearing from time to time.
I’ll check back tomorrow and see if it is the actual hosting site (pbase).Again, thanks for the time.
Raincoaster, no never used Picapp. Thanks though.

Also – I just cut and pasted the same exact text/html in “Everything OK” and saved and now it works.
It seems like the posts are fine but are being corrupted over time. Another thing is, If I refresh the page, no photos can be seen, but if I than click on blog, the photos are fine…???…

I copied the code of one of your images and pasted it in my test blog: got the same issue. Deleted it, pasted it again, image showed up. So it seems to me that the problem is with the site the images are hosted in. Why don’t you upload them to your blog?
-
I’m having the same issue as John/happypoppeye. All of my images have been uploaded to my blog (cubiyanqui.com). Only certain images are showing — it seems like only certain widget images — but none on the posts or header. Even links to YouTube are showing as blanks.
No freaking idea what’s going on…

All of your images and videos are showing for me. Sounds like you have a cache issue the Cookie Dance will cure:
Log out, clear browser cache and cookies, restart computer. That should fix it. If not, you’ve got an internet-throttling issue. Are you behind a proxy of some kind, like at work?
-
Hey, raincoaster. No, I’m at home, not behind any proxy. I will try login out and clearing out as you recommend.
Thanks!
-
That worked!
I love the community support here. It’s priceless (and free!).
Thanks again!

No dice. They were ther a few hours ago, now gone again after a new post …although the photo from the new post is there, which if from the same site as the others…
Almost like the links are being broken by something throughout the day as the pics will appear than disappear…
-
Does anyone know if photos from pbase cannot be linked or why the link breaks after some time?
Thanks
