Broken Image Links
-
Panaghiotisadam – The only thing is they work when linked in to all other sites. The only one they don’t work on is this one. Having to upload all photos could and will cause problems at some point and will limit my posting. Being able to link photos is actually a very big help.
-
Why will it cause issues at some point?
I was having this issue on another website of mine and went through all of this then thought like Panaghiotisadam suggested and haven’t had any problem since. -
bats0711 – that would mean I can only post photos from my home computer. I would probably rather move to another blog site than. I don’t want too, I want to fix the problem, not just ignore it so to speak. I wouldn’t think there should be any reason the links break – as they do work when first entered…

Thanks for not taking it wrong – I do have an email into wordpress for help also but haven’t heard anything back yet…
-
Oh no I can understand your frustrated and was glad you pointed that out to me. When you do hear back from them can you post how you fix it so that way others can find this thread and beable to have that knowledge? I wish you a lot luck and hopefully soon your pics will work out.
-
@happypoppeye: I had the same question, and I’m afraid I don’t understand your reply to bats0711: aren’t those photos your own?
Hotlinking may be convenient sometimes, but the safe solution is uploading to the blog, so that you’re not at the mercy of the other site.
-
Oh – I know what your saying – about the hotlinking. But I have all my photos on that site and it is my main photo site”.
They are my photos, but it would take alot of time to upload them here and than would be at a fixed image ratio. Basically just a pain in the neck and there is no reason that I can see that they shouldn’t work, or work only some of the time…
I see what your saying, but it’s not worth staying on wordpress if I can’t link.
Thanks for your replies also,
John -
@happy, I don’t think this is a wordpress issue. I could be wrong, but I’ve seen this before and most times it is an issue with the photo hosting site.
I just inserted your image into my self-hosted blog (not on wordpress.COM) and the image does NOT show when I view it.
I then put the image into two different Joomla installations (my test site and one of my client’s sites), and the image does not show on either of those either.
This points to the fact that this is something on the photo hosting sites end of things.
-
I just snuck it into a client Drupal site and it does not show up there either.
(don’t worry, I’ve deleted them all from those sites)
-
I just inserted that image into a blogger test blog and the image does not show up either.
I can if you wish do the same thing on typepad, Live Journal and Moveable Type, but after this much testing, I can safely say the issue is with your photo hosting site.
Talk to your photo hosting site. The problem is on their end (or the entire web is broken, one of the two).

thesacredpath – thank you very much for the time.
I think this is a pbase site thing. I have just taken a different URL – apparently they have a different URL for direct linking – for each image and fixed all the photos. For now they are working but so did the first set. I’ll check back in a few hours and see if they stick and let you know. I also linked an image from a different site to make sure it is the pbase (first) site that is the problem for sure.
Thanks again,
John -

You are welcome, and sometimes I think it is too. With the rollout of IPv6 starting the other day, we might well see some other disruptions in the near future as well.
-
@John: Thanks for the previous reply – I see what you mean.
In the meantime I checked your blog again: now there are no Xs, but the images take forever to load. I visited your pbase page too, and I agree with TSP: the problem must be with them. For example, I tried this image: http://www.pbase.com/happypoppeye/image/107315433 . After one whole minute only half of it had loaded.
As a temporary measure, I would suggest you go to Settings>Reading and reduce the number of posts per page to only one or two.

Thanks for update and suggestion Panaghiotisadam.
…and thanks for all your time TSP.Looks like using a different URL for photos worked as everything is still there. It seems Pbase has the normal image URL and a different direct linking URL.
Thanks for help
John
