Broken images
-
Hello,
I have a blog called memyselfnegypt.wordpress.com. Some of the images on most of my old post and some of my new ones are broken. When I created the posts and uploaded the images they were fine. But recently I bought a domain name (using also wordpress) called http://www.thebountifulnow.com. When i imported my old files to the new blog thats when I noticed that these images were broken. I don’t have these pictures anymore. Why did this happen and how can I fix it? I have already gone live with my new blogThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Which site are the images missing from? Please provide an example or two of a post or page URL in which there are missing images and 404 errors.

Here are some of the posts which have broken images:

https://memyselfnegypt.wordpress.com/2015/01/06/new-years-in-dahab-part-3/When I imported the files (posts etc) from my old blog (memyselfnegypt.wordpress.com) to my new blog (www.thebountifulnow.com) I apparently also imported the broken images

Thanks. The image URLs https://memyselfnegypt.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/img_4197.jpg?w=656, https://memyselfnegypt.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/img_4276.jpg?w=656, and https://memyselfnegypt.files.wordpress.com/2016/05/img_4277.jpg?w=656 in the post My patio garden: Reflections, mistakes and lessons learnt each produce 404 errors, which typically indicates that the corresponding images in the media file have been deleted. Changing the image URL either in the media library or in the post content would produce the same effect.
Are you sure that the images weren’t broken before the import?
-
They probably were. But I didnt notice until after the import. When I wrote those posts and inserted the pics, they were fine. So I dont understand why they appeared as broken much later. Also, a few months later, I think I deleted the images from my media library to make more space. It didnt occur to me to check whether the images in the posts were broken or not. So I don’t have them anymore. But is there somewhere on wordpress where they are saved maybe?

But is there somewhere on wordpress where they are saved maybe?
You might find them, or some of them, in the corresponding post or page revisions. Other than that, the answer is, unfortunately, no.

I’ve never heard of WordPress.com export or import causing the loss of images from the originating site. However, you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention if you think that might have happened.

By “loss of images from the originating site” I mean loss of images from the media library of the originating WordPress.com site.
