Broken images after domain mapping

• Unknown's avatar

I recently did domain mapping on this site and now all of my images are broken! I have put in a support ticket, but it’s the weekend and I have received no response in a day :-(

I have close to 2000 images on the site! Am I going to have to MANUALLY update ALL of them or is there a way that WordPress can do something on the back end to fix this? Everything else seems to be working okay.

The site was transferred from self-hosted WordPress to WordPress.com. The original WordPress.com site URL was recoveringshopaholicblog.wordpress.com. I got everything working great before I did the domain mapping but then the images broke. This is what I notice in terms of the paths for one example image (for the most recent post):

URL in Post:
http://recoveringshopaholic.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/pressing-pause.jpg

File URL of Image via Media Manager:
https://recoveringshopaholicblog.files.wordpress.com/2017/02/pressing-pause.jpg

Permalink: https://recoveringshopaholic.com/2017/02/28/pressing-the-pause-button/pressing-pause/#main

If anyone can offer any advice on this, I would really appreciate it. My site is under the Personal Plan, but I would be willing to upgrade to Premium if that means that WordPress could fix this for me.

Thank you!

Hello!

Just looking at your site, all the images posted after August 2016 “Grab Bag” of Useful Links seem to be ok, so it seems only 23 posts are affected?

It seems to have glitched out during the mapping, but it may be easier to just change the image urls for those.. dont know..

Either way, I’ll flag this post for the admin’s attention.

I hope that helps, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi Debbie,

I’ve found your support email and will follow up with you there. Please let me know if you don’t receive it.

Thanks!

Joe,

Thank you for your reply and for flagging the post. You’re right that many of the images in the earlier posts are displaying correctly, but some of those are broken as well. I’m not sure what happened, but I did hear back from Gemma, who told me she was getting the developers to look into my issue. I hope they will be able to fix it soon, as this issue has been going on for a few days now and it’s quite embarrassing to have a very broken site out on the Internet :-(

Gemma,

Thank you for getting in touch. I hope to hear back from you very soon on this issue. There are very many broken images that are still referencing the old path. I’m not sure why some imported properly and others did not, but I hope the developers will get to the bottom of the problem and fix it today. I’m sure you can understand that this is upsetting for me and I am eager to have it resolved.

I appreciate your help,
Debbie

Hi Debbie,

I had logged off when you replied yesterday but I see you chatted to two members of staff on Live Chat during that time. I had already spoken to our developers and they are aware of the issue with your images — it is currently in line for them to work on and we’ll let you know as soon as we have more news.

I’m now going to reply to your other emails, my reply should reach you shortly.

Speak to you soon.
