Broken images in top posts widget
-
I have two blogs using the same theme (Choco). One of them is displaying perfectly the images in the image list option for the Top posts widget, the other displays broken images, although the media files are correctly attached to each post which appears in the top posts widget – I double checked this, since I imported some of the posts from one of my blogs to the other. I spent days reattaching one by one the images to the imported posts, so now it s very frustrating that the widget does not display them. I hope you can assist me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. You only supplied a URL for one blog, tintapatronus. On that blog the images appear to be displaying correctly. If that’s the one you’re having trouble with, try clearing your browser cache and cookies and see if that resolves the problem. http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
If the issue is on the other blog, please provide that one’s URL as well (though still clear the cache and cookies and check if that doesn’t fix it).

Hi, it’s working now. Not sure how it got fixed by itself.
Have though another issue with the upcoming events widget. I have on the same blog two calendars, so I used the widget twice in the side-bar and added the respective ical link to each of them. One is displaying the events, the other one doesn’t. I know that usually it takes time for the widget to get the feed from ical, but six hours have past since I added the events to the calendar and the widget would not make them appear. This the url of the blog: http://artmargok.wordpress.com/
Should I just wait a little longer?
Thanks,
Dora

Hi there. I don’t see any upcoming event or calendar widgets on http://artmargok.wordpress.com/ Have you removed them again?
-
Hi, no I did not remove them.
The one which is working is the one you will find under the title IDŐSZAKI KIALLITÁSOK (sorry for the Hungarian), it starts with Toulouse-Lautrec (it’s a list of temporary art exhibitions in Budapest, Hungary).
Right below the list of events, is the other widget, with the title TÁRLATVEZETÉSEK. Under it the Hungarian phrase says: “No upcoming events”, although I uploaded quite a few several hours ago. This worked before without any problems for many days, until the old events were past, and then I uploaded new ones, and since then it is not working…
I double-checked the ical link, and also double-checked if the ical settings are set to public. All is OK on that side, so it seems to me a WP issue.
Thanks a lot for helping me!!! :)

I had a thought: can it be because the blog was set to public not more than 24 hours ago? Probably Google didn’t index it yet, and this is why it is not getting the new feeds from ical…. However, it did get them when the blog was set to private… Just trying to figure it out…

Thanks for clarifying. Troubleshooting does get somewhat complicated when it comes to non-English blogs ;-)
I’m afraid I don’t know what could be causing this, so I’ve tagged the thread for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for their response.

Hi Dorqa,
Do you have a lot of items in that calendar? I ask because when I pulled the code for that calendar directly, there was only one item and the code was formatted a bit different from the code from your other calendar.
If you don’t mind, would you please regenerate the link for that calendar, delete your current widget, and create a new one? It may be that there is something awry with pulling the information from Google Calendar and trying a completely fresh pull will resolve it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi amightywp,
I have 13 events in the calendar. I did what you suggested: deleted the widget and created a new one. I will wait a couple of hours, as I know the items take some time until they show up.
I set the widget to show 6 of the 13 events, but I can even delete half of the events if the large number can be an issue when pulling data.
I’ll let you know if any of these (reinstalling the widget, deleting some of the items from the calendar) worked.
Thanks a lot for the assistance! :)

Thanks for letting me know. That’s strange because it really was only showing one and that one looked very strange. I don’t know, maybe check to make sure that calendar is set to be fully public as well?
-
It is not working unfortunately. I checked both the settings of the calendar and the settings of each entry separately and all are set to “public”. I also deleted half of the entries…
I will try one more thing: I will create a new calendar to generate a new link and see if maybe that one works.Let me know if there is anything else I can do from my end.
Thanks a lot! :)

So, my last idea worked :) I created a new calendar, which generated a new iCal link and with that link the widget displayed the events immediately.
Thanks a lot for all the help! :)Dora

You’re the one who did all of the work! I’m glad to hear that it was just something wrong with the calendar (since I couldn’t find anything wrong with the widget).
Thanks for letting me know!
