broken link to image.. please help

  I don’t know if this is the correct place to ask this question but I am new here and trying to figure out my way here ….

  On the front page of my site as I view it or anyone views it, a big square image is shown,, actually there is no image to be seen, only an empty box with a broken link sign :(:( I don’t know where this has appeared from and how to go on about removing it.. I havent uploaded any images in the library as yet, I dont know what changes I made and when and where I made them that this appeared… can anyone please guide me…

  I am using the twenty twelve theme and the site in question is randombytesfromlife.wordpress.com

  I’m not seeing that issue, and I do see images on that blog. I guess you can mark this Resolved.

  Please check again, right below the upper menu line, there is a square for which there is no image…

  Yes can see the square on left. I have tried to open the image on a tab and it gives below link:

  I did a few weeks back but then I took it out.. now i cannot find the source page where i can go and check.. i have checked my profile and settings page where it says no image uploaded.

  Login to the backend, and edit the Home page. Try finding the image name cropped-randompink1.jpg on that page.

  http://randombytesfromlife.files.wordpress.com/2014/11/cropped-randompink1.jpg produces a “404” page not found and that means you deleted the image from your Media Library, so it cannot be displayed when browser calls for it. You will need to upload the image again.

  I dont want that image up there any more, actually.. that is why I took it off.. but now the empty box is there showing up.. I inspected the element and tried a lot of other things but nothing has shown a positive result so far :(:(

  all your images I looked at are hot linked from somewhere else – so if they delete the image it goes away from your site –

  you need to make sure places you hotlink images from allow that to be done – some places don’t like you hot-linking to their images and some will change the image and put a bit “stolen from” text on the image or sometimes swap the image for porn images and that is what then shows up on your blog
